SA ’13 – Scarborough

11911546646_13eff31199_bFri 12/27 – Mom and Dad’s 30th Anniversary

We spent the morning walking and playing on the beach and enjoying Matchbox.  Then we went to Imhoff Farm and celebrated Mom and Dad’s 30th (Pearl) Anniversary.  It was a very intimate family get-together and the food was really good.  The kids spent hours playing in the tree outside, and we just relaxed in the restaurant’s back yard.

In the evening the boys watched a movie while I barbecued boerewors and braaibroodjies.  Awesome day!

Sat 12/28 – Greenmarket Square, Camps Bay

We headed out to Greenmarket Square in the heart of Cape Town to buy some trinkets and souvenirs, then went over Kloofnek Road to  Camps Bay for a quick stroll on the beach, and met up with Danie, Mom and Dad in Hout Bay for a seafood feast.

Sun 12/29 – Lunch at Jannie and Marna’s

Lazy morning at Scarborough. Quick visit to the beach, then off to the Strand to have lunch with the family. Awesome meal (filet, lamb, rice, pickled peaches, peas… And for dessert a Thai speciality… Black rice with coconut milk)
The inevitable happened when Colin had his first scary fall out of a tree (branch broke) and hit his head hard on the pavement. All is well though. Just a big bump on his noggin.
Back to Scarborough for a quick beach visit, then a light barbecue, and then back to the beach for the sunset with a glass of wine.

Mon 12/30 – Cape Point, Kirstenbosch, Date Night

Visited Cape Point.  Not really the southernmost tip of Africa, but close enough.  It is a fun walk up to the lighthouse.  Unfortunately we didn’t get to see any baboons this time.  Then met up with Mom and Dad at Kirstenbosch Garden.  What a wonderful place.  Definitely have to go there every visit.  Dropped the boys at Danie’s place (Mom and Dad offered to watch them for them for the night) and we went to a nice restaurant (Manna Epicure on Kloof Street) for dinner.

Tue 12/31 – Lazy morning at Matchbox, Barbecue

Enjoyed a nice relaxing morning at matchbox without the kids 🙂 and then headed over to Danie’s place to pick up the kids.  Came back to Matchbox to pack and get ready for New Years’ celebration on the beach, but it was too windy, so we ended up heading back to Danie’s place in Constantia for a nice barbecue.  We did not stay up until midnight…
